HoLEP Surgery

Leading-edge treatment Exceptional outcomes Your path to lasting relief without the wait

Is this you?

Experiencing bothersome symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH) like frequent urination, weak stream, or nighttime awakenings?

Frustrated by medication side effects or their diminishing effectiveness?

Been advised HoLEP surgery in the UK, but facing long waits or high costs?

Seeking a definitive, highly effective, and long-lasting solution for BPH?

What is HoLEP Surgery?

HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is a highly effective, minimally invasive surgical procedure for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. Using a state-of-the-art holmium laser, Dr. Erol precisely removes the excess prostate tissue that is blocking urine flow. This tissue is then safely extracted from the bladder, creating a clear and open channel for urination. Unlike older methods, HoLEP removes almost all of the obstructing tissue, similar to open surgery, but without the need for large incisions.

Why Choose HoLEP?

HoLEP is widely recognized as the gold standard for treating BPH due to its numerous benefits:

Exceptional Success Rate

Highly effective in relieving BPH symptoms, often providing immediate and significant improvement in urine flow.

Long-Lasting Results

Highly effective in relieving BPH symptoms, often providing immediate and significant improvement in urine flow.

Minimally Invasive

Performed endoscopically via the urethra — no external cuts, less pain, and quicker recovery than open surgery.

Suitable for All Prostate Sizes

Effective for prostates of any size, unlike some other laser or minimally invasive procedures.

Low Risk of Complications

Generally associated with lower risks of bleeding and shorter hospital stays.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The procedure itself is performed under anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during surgery. Any post-operative discomfort is typically manageable with medication.

We recommend a stay of approximately 5-7 days to cover the procedure, initial recovery, and a follow-up check before your return journey.

Most patients can return to light, non-strenuous activities within a few days, with full recovery allowing for more rigorous activity typically within 2-4 weeks.

As with any surgery, there are potential risks, though HoLEP generally has a lower risk profile for bleeding and other complications compared to older methods. Dr. Erol will discuss all potential risks and benefits during your consultation.

Yes, a catheter is usually in place for a short period, typically removed before you leave the hospital, or within a day or two after.

HoLEP is generally associated with a low risk of new onset erectile dysfunction. Some men may experience retrograde ejaculation (semen going into the bladder instead of out the penis), which is harmless. Dr. Erol will discuss this in detail.

A Proven, All-in-One Solution for BPH

Trusted worldwide for BPH relief, HoLEP offers benefits unmatched by other procedures.

The BPH Breakthrough

Research suggests that HoLEP improves the rate of urinary flow and relieves urinary symptoms more effectively than any other endoscopic treatment for BPH. After HoLEP, the average symptom score improvement is 70-80%.

Breakthrough in Urinary Flow

Patients diagnosed with BPH have also experienced flow rate improvements of up to 600% after treatment with HoLEP.

End Urinary Retention

HoLEP has also been proven extremely effective in the treatment of urinary retention in men.

HoLEP Leads in Results

98% of men using catheters before surgery no longer had to use catheters after HoLEP. This is compared to 70% of men who underwent green light laser surgery and TURP. Unlike other endoscopic treatments for BPH, HoLEP is an effective procedure for men with any size prostate.
